Our Team

The ADRU team combines social science expertise with many years of practical experience in disaster research, risk and crisis communication, intercultural cooperation, and professional education and training. Our team brings together expertise from a range of disciplines, including sociology, cultural anthropology, political science, geography, communication studies and psychology, and works in an interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary and application-oriented manner.

Our strength lies in combining scientific depth with the ability to translate knowledge into practice. Many of our team members are rooted in both research and practice: they advise government agencies, organisations and networks, develop educational and training formats, and contribute to national and international projects. The involvement of practitioners and practice partners is an integral part of all our work. We place particular emphasis on critical reflection, diversity and dialogue-oriented collaboration – within the team and with our partners.

We see ourselves as a learning organisation: knowledge exchange, mutual learning and a culture of open dialogue shape the way we work together. This creates the basis for analysing complex societal challenges together with those we work with, and develop forward-looking solutions.
